I have some good news for eveyone that’s failed with diets

April 20th, 2009

ANY diet will work [including the Biggest Loser diet].

However, 95% of people fail at permanent weight loss.

Why?

Because they make dieting too much work. The facts prove that few people can stick to a special diet for the rest of their life.

So what’s the answer? Make losing weight easy.

And the way to do that, is to take a diet that you like [for example the biggest loser diet] and take out the parts that you can easily fit into where you are in life right now.

To help you do that, read New Body New Life.

It is not a diet book, it is a manual that teaches you how to  permanently succeed at weight loss by taking what you’ve chosen to help you lose weight- and adapt it to your own circumstances- so it becomes something you can easily do.

Think About Diet and Exercise Differently

June 29th, 2009
Craig Pepin Donat asked:

(c) 2008 Craig Pepin Donat

Our society is sicker and fatter than ever before in the history of our modern civilization. Toxic exposure from chemicals all around us, a lack of proper nutrition, a society that encourages a “couch potato” lifestyle, and stress created by our jobs and daily living all contribute to our ill health. Add fad diets, weight loss supplements, and exercise gadgets that just don’t work into the mix, and you have the makings of a crisis.

The problem is exacerbated by an overwhelming amount of misinformation related to health and fitness. Millions of diets, gurus, books, and websites all claim to have the solutions, but we, as a society, just keep getting sicker and fatter.

Kim Lyons, trainer for NBC’s Biggest Loser, weighs in with Symposium host Craig Pepin-Donat on negative attitudes toward nutrition and exercise and how people can break through those destructive thought patterns to create a healthier lifestyle.

“Destructive Attitudes toward Diet and Exercise”

“People’s general attitude towards exercise and proper nutrition is so incredibly negative,” she says. “When I do public speaking, I like to ask people right away, “What’s the first thing that you think about when you hear the word diet.’ Everyone responds with ‘plain,’ ‘boring,’ or ‘hungry,’ and you never hear ‘fun’ or ‘feel good.’

“I tell people that when you start eating healthy, you should start focusing on the positive. Realize how good you feel after you eat healthy. You order the side salad instead of French fries and your friends say, ‘Are you kidding me? Why are you ordering a salad? What, are you getting healthy?’

“Tell them, ‘Yes, I’m eating healthy, and I feel so good. I dropped a pant size, and I feel so good about myself.’

“All of a sudden people are going to say, ‘Oh, I want to do that, too.’ It’s contagious.

Going to the gym is another thing people have negative thoughts about. I’ll say, ‘Okay, now, let’s talk about workout.’ They think about sweat, misery, pain, and soreness with the gym, and they say they don’t have time. There’s something you can do in the tiny bit of space in your living room, and you can incorporate everything from cardio to resistance training.

“Resistance training is absolutely crucial. You have to do it, but you don’t have to do it with metal, and you definitely don’t have to do it in the gym. There are other equipment to use, such as resistance bands; you can even use your own body weight.

“You have to make it fun. Go back to your childhood when you played kickball, softball, and soccer. All that is working out; that’s exercise. “Thinking Like a Fit Person” “Doing abs, doing push-ups; there are so many things you can do. I call it,

‘Thinking like a fit person.’

What that means is there are no more escalators in your life; there are no more elevators in your life. Little things like having an ab ball to sit on at your desk or sitting next to your couch, so that when you are watching TV, you’re going to be more prone to grab that thing. Even if you’re just stretching out or sitting on it, you’re improving your posture.

“One thing I like to tell people is to have something fun on their sofa table, such as a jump rope. That’s always incredibly entertaining, because it’s pretty tough for somebody to look at a jump rope and not try it. Even if you put it on your desk at work, somebody will pick it up and start jump-roping. Little things like that all add up over time and help you burn calories and get you in shape.

Stop following those old habits. Find things that you like. Of course, it’s easier said than done. It does take about three weeks for it to become a habit. It is funny when you start taking note of all the things that you do and then finding things to replace them. It’s really not that tough. But, it does take time, and it does take effort.”

The Biggest Loser Is A Great Weight Loss Motivator

June 28th, 2009
Chris Peterson asked:

Tv`s the biggest loser, is an incredible insight into peoples struggles to lose weight. I could`nt believe how one guy, had lost over 140 pounds from his 300 plus frame.

It`s like a miracle unfolded before your eyes, as they show the contestants pictures from when they started and than update the pictures over the course of months as they began to lose weight.

These people went from barely being able to walk, because of their size, into completely fit individuals. It was almost too much to see the differences in their looks, as they progressively shredded pounds from their frames.

Alot of these people were extremely good looking, but had been hiding behind years of abuse to their bodies. Even family members could hardly believe their eyes, as they saw them for the first time, since they had left to join this diet show.

This show is an inspiration to overweight people the world over. I saw just how hard those contestants exercised and struggled with making better food choices and thought to myself “These people are really working hard and should be commended for their efforts.

As the contestants exercising continued, you could see their stamina improved and their spirits became brighter, as they realised, that they could achieve a signifiacnt weight loss, with consistant efforts.

That`s not to say, that there were not struggles along the way for them. As the contestants went back home, without their personal trainers looking after them. You started to see them, slipping back into the old negative eating habits and lifestyles that made them gain so much weight.

Each person had their own reasons for letting their weight gains spiral out of control originally. Some were substituting food for happiness. Others truly just loved food and were completely addicted to it.

Some were trying to heal emotional scars from when they were young. Each individual had to dig deep within themselves to come to terms with their issues and than the healing could begin.

I can personally relate. I too got married and gained a fair amount of weight years back. But, I never felt well being overweight. I felt rundown all the time and after alot of starting and stopping. I was able to stick with exercising and eating smaller meals, until I trimmed down in fighting shape again.

Though most of the contestants decided, that no matter how hard their weight loss process was, they needed a complete lifestyle change and they didn`t want to ***** up all their previous hard work.

I thought that seeing these people at home, brought a very humane quality to overweight peoples struggles with weight loss. Put me in their shoes and I don`t know ,if I could have responded as well, as they all did.

Overweight people can feel disciminated against at times, but the biggest loser was the complete opposite. The personal trainers were, nothing but supportive and you could tell, that they truly cared about these people and their health.

Not only did contestants have to exercise rigorously, but completely change their eating habits, as well as be away from their loved ones, for long durations.

You could definately see, some of the people on the show were almost going through a type of withdrawal from food as some cried, others threw temper tantrums.

Years of sedentary living combined with terrible eating habits had clearly taken their tolls on these people. At first most of them could barely jog a block, let along a few miles. But as the show continued, these people started to gain confidence in themselves and their ability to stick with a diet and exercise regimen.

I felt that this show, was an incredible inspiration, for anyone that is feeling helpless. There were so many people that were truly cheering these people on and desperately wanting them to suceed.

The one fact, that I took away from the show was, overweight people should not just accept being overweight as who they are. They should watch this weight loss show and see that anything is possible, with some effort and hard work. And that loved ones truly wanted these people to be happy and healthy.

The one contestant said ” I want to be around to see my daughter get married”. I thought that his dieting efforts were an incredible gift to his wife and daughter.

A Diet Plan Only a Loser Could Love

June 27th, 2009
Jim Mackey asked:

It’s common practice: First there is a hit book, show or movie and then follows a shelf full of branded products to follow suit. NBC’s hit reality show, The Biggest Loser is no different than many other shows and movies that have realized their allure and created a line of products that are relevant and fitting to its main message. With its new Biggest Loser Meal Plan, the message is a healthy, albeit pricey one.

Now anyone who is looking to shed a few pounds can dine on some of the same fare that was enjoyed by many of the show’s contestants. In fact, many of the plan’s testimonials come from contestants themselves like Mark Kruger who believes that the Biggest Loser Meal Plan helps him to stay on track with his weight goals while not feeling food deprived. In addition, the nutrition information with each meal allows Mark or you to know exactly how many calories, fat, protein and carbohydrates you are consuming. For someone who is astutely monitoring his or her intake, this is a useful and necessary factor to be aware of before eating a bite.

Right now, there are only four menus to choose from. Each menu consists of breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks for one week. But if you’re a vegetarian, you’re out of luck at the moment. Perhaps in the future, the Biggest Loser Meal Plan will include menu selections for those who don’t eat meat. Also, if you have food allergies to peanuts or wheat, you too may have to wait for future selections that include meals specified for those with dietary restrictions.

Menu selections can include coffeecake or a muffin for breakfast, chicken satay with vegetables or chili for lunch and dinner can be stuffed turkey ****** or whole-wheat pasta sauce with marinara sauce. The menu is diverse. In one week, you won’t eat the same thing twice.

Each meal includes a balance of carbohydrate, protein and fat. You can select a plan that fits your lifestyle or wallet. For instance, you can choose to have 5 days of 5 meals with no snacks, or seven days of seven meals with seven snacks. There are four separate style options for you to choose from.

Once you order them, you can expect to receive your allotment in 2-5 days. All meal plans are shipped frozen in a special packaging that ensures your food will arrive in good condition. The price can vary depending upon what style of plan you select. At the cheapest, it will set you back $19.95 a day and at the most expensive plan, you’ll be spending $22.90 per day on food.

Figure out what your typical grocery store and eating-out bills calculate out to be. Then you can decide whether it is equal, more or less than what you normally spend on food.

Authentic Weight Loss Program Of The Biggest Loser

June 24th, 2009
John Alvino asked:

My girlfriend is obsessed with the television show, The Biggest Loser.  For those of you who don’t know, this popular reality show is basically a weight loss contest.  She loves to see the dramatic weight loss results that the contestants get each week.  She loves this show so much, she has convinced me to watch it with her each and every Tuesday night.  I have to say, the show is quite entertaining and I do enjoy watching it with her.

But, from a weight loss standpoint, Im not impressed.  The goal of the show is to lose weight as fast as possible.  In order to do this, the contestants engage in a very extreme weight loss program that is designed to cause rapid reductions in bodyweight.  Rapid weight loss is great, right?  Not so fast!  This is not necessarily the case.  Heres why:

First of all, weight loss is not the same as fat loss.  More often then not, the weight these people lose is composed of lean muscle tissue, water weight, and some body fat.  Unfortunately, it turns out that losing muscle actually causes your metabolism to slow significantly, which makes losing body fat even more difficult than it was before.  So losing any muscle at all is really not desirable if you intend to maintain your fat loss results on a permanent basis.

I’ve found that when people lose weight quickly they have a significantly greater chance of the dreaded weight regain. Since weight loss and fat loss are two different things it’s important to realize that rapid weight loss is not always ideal. Of course we all want to lose fat quickly but remember that it must be done correctly, scientifically and carefully or be prepared to gain the weight back.

When you have a weight loss program which is performed properly you will be able to lose fat quickly, not just weight, by keeping your lean muscle mass. Lean muscle mass is crucial to long term fat loss because it keeps your metabolic rate high. I want to see you change your body forever and not just for a short term period so don’t think so much “quantity” or weight but quality of weight by losing fat.

In order to be a long term maintainer I suggest taking a look at what people are doing who have truly achieved “real” fat loss. Here is the big difference between long term maintainers and big losers:

First off every long term maintainer has a solid workout program which always includes both cardio and resistance training. The goal for most of these people is at least 30 minutes of exercise almost every day.

As far as diet is concerned a “big loser” and a maintainer’s habits will vary greatly. Big losers usually follow the fad diets and perform limited exercise or simply perform aerobic work with no resistance training. Also, the self-monitoring methods used by big losers and maintainers differ as well such as measuring bodyweight and body fat percentages and also measuring calories.

Self-monitoring is probably the most criticized and avoided weight loss technique especially when it comes to calorie counting and measuring food. Some fitness experts even claim this to be an inconvenient method of weight loss because it seems too restrictive. I believe this to be one of the most beneficial weight loss methods and can make a huge difference between getting fat and losing fat.

4 Strategies To Ensure Fat Loss Success!

1. Become more active everyday! Daily exercise is crucial for weight maintenance and weight loss.

2. Include resistance training as part of your regular exercise program, during your fat loss phase, and even more importantly, during maintenance.

3. Closely monitor your portion sizes and calories. To start off do exact measurements even though that may be a little time consuming then afterwards just eyeball the quantities.

4. Focus on losing fat and not just weight!  Measuring your body fat percentage is the best way to ensure that your weight loss is actually coming from fat and not lean muscle.

Follow my 4 fat loss strategies and you too will stop being a big loser and become a long term fat loss maintainer!

Biggest Loser – Diet Contest Craze

June 24th, 2009
Helena Ferrari asked:

Many companies are not waiting until New Years Eve to make resolutions about their total health and wellness program and incorporating weight-loss competitions inspired by a popular TV shows such as “The Biggest Loser.” Corporations are investing big dollars by assisting workers who are concerned about their waistlines. Employers are viewing this as a win-win situation by creating an opportunity to improve employee health, increase productivity, reduce absenteeism and lower health care costs. From reading many testimonials employees have admitted that they were excited about the contest as they really didn’t have the motivation and willpower necessary to lose weight on their own. Interestingly it seems the idea of a competition built a true camaraderie, team centered environment which kept the motivation and focus on their weight loss targets. Turns out some corporations are seeing extra benefits as it relates to the overall culture with enhanced teamwork and tenacity. Apparently these contests have spurred the contestants to make radical changes to their eating and fitness habits which are even rubbing off on others. It appears, the most popular choice in the soda machine is sparkling water, and it’s common for people to use the stairs instead of elevators and walk or run around the building at lunch. As a Human Resources Director, Certified Professional and leader of my company’s health and wellness program this initiative sparked my interest not only from a corporate perspective but also a personal one. I too have tried many diets and weight loss programs in the past, trying to lose those pesky pounds but slowly the pounds crept back, so I would try another one and then I was back at square one again. It is very tempting to be one of many companies incorporating this great idea and host a fad diet competition by using the latest magazine article that promises the world with fantastic fat losses, just take a couple of fat burning pills follow the diet and then wow, a brand new body in a few weeks!

The sad fact is fat diets don’t work long term, so what does this mean? What would happen to morale and productivity? I asked myself, would this potentially spoil the short term gain and have a damaging effect on the culture and morale for the employee’s long term? This was a challenge for me and a great opportunity to find a total health and wellness program through nutrition and exercise and reap the rewards long term rather than just a quick fix. My company sponsors fitness and exercise through at our local gym so my research focused on uncovering a nutritional program that is safe and natural. After months of searching I was introduced to doctor recommended total health and wellness system that focuses on cleansing and fat burning by releasing impurities that are accumulated over time in our bodies that are often stored in fat cells. When cleansing these impurities are naturally released along with the fat cells and excess water and in turn safely lose weight. With this information I decided to give it a try first. I have to report that my results have been absolutely amazing; I have dropped over 22 pounds and 29 inches, safely and naturally and to my surprise I have kept it off. This system has changed my life in understanding the importance of looking after my internal body and the best thing is I feel fantastic. I encourage companies and individuals like mine to take advantage of my research and be cautious about be involved or incorporating Biggest Loser type contests as a band-aid approach and seek long-term results. Throughout my 17 years of experience in Human Resources my intent is to raise awareness that improves organizations competitiveness through people. I encourage you to visit or click on this link http://www.drspeaksout.com/ to view a short video to educate those considering nutritional cleansing for a healthy, leaner and more vibrant life style. Ephedrine - Worth It?

June 22nd, 2009
Diets In Review asked:

With all the talk of diet pills lately, even the late adapters are starting to take notice of the ever evolving diet pill market. The leader of the pack seems to be the now famous or should we say infamous pill.

The pill makes a very strong claim and at least at this time is easy to come by. They are selling off the shelves with the claim that it will suppress your appetite and burn the fat faster than you can on your own even with a healthy diet.

I have come across a few good diet sites that contain articles and comments: Dietsinreview.com has a good Ephedrine page with lots of comments on the diet pill.

I would love to see what other resources people have come up with!

Burn That Fat - 3 Bad Diet Mistakes - Are You Making Them?

June 20th, 2009
Jim Keayes asked:

Having trouble burning off that fat… falling off your diet plan again and again?

Everyone everywhere is making diet mistakes every day. And they’re all pretty similar. Not the little slips where you gulp down a plate of ice cream in a moment of weakness… we can deal with those. But the mistakes that cause your diet plan to fail… these are the dangerous ones.

1. The “Stick to the Plan - No Compromises” Attitude

It seems once again “it’s all in your attitude”.

You pick out a complicated diet that is almost impossible to maintain. Before you start you purge your kitchen of any items that aren’t on the program. You plan to be the ace dieter… but in a few days or a week or two it just seems so darn hard and so fun.

And then what? You quit… and you feel like a loser… again! And you go out and buy all that “bad” food you’ve been craving that you threw out last week.

The way forward is to make small changes to what you eat so that you have a slow but steady weight loss.

Here’s the question to ask yourself: “Am I really serious about permanent weight loss or is it just a nice daydream?”

2. The Attitude of Sacrifice

This is a really big one!

You attitude is: “I’m on this diet for a month - I’ll lose 10 pounds and then it’s back to eating the way I enjoy”.

Well… you’re not alone on this one. We all do it. Why? Because overeating is an addiction and its obsessive compulsive, so overcoming the craving is a real challenge.

This is probably the biggest danger of all. If you don’t first get that craving under control then you are doomed to failure.

It is better to include a little of everything in your diet and learn to enjoy it in small quantities. Yes, even chocolate… as long as it’s low sugar dark chocolate!

3. Failing to Achieve your goal.

If you fail at your goal it may not seem like much. After all… you’ve done it before… right? But every time we fail we create another burden of shame to lug around. And like most people we just stuff them is a hidden place and ignore them. But they eat away at us.

Every goal failure sets us up for another one until we change our way of setting up our goals.

It’s critical to set achievable goals. Think them out and write them down. Ask yourself this question: “Am I absolutely certain I can achieve this goal?” If you’re not certain then the goal is too big.

Most people set their goals the wrong way!

The smart way to set achievable goals is to create a goal that is an action that you have total control over. Setting a goal to lose two pounds in two weeks is not a goal you can control. So you set yourself up to lose.

Make the plan of losing two pounds in two weeks your “intention” not your “goal” and then set up an action plan to achieve it.

Here’s a goal that you can control: “I’ll drink two glasses of water today” or “I won’t eat bread for the next hour”.

You see the difference? You have no control whatever over how much weight you can lose in what time, but for short periods you can control what you eat!

The best solution of course is to find a way to lose weight quite rapidly without needing to struggle with hunger all the time. All you need to do is to get control of the carbohydrate craving and eliminate it quickly. Then your goals are not such a struggle.

If you would like to know how to make this happen then I can help.

Biggest Loser Club: No Wonder Biggest Loser Club is Such a Hit!

June 18th, 2009
Jim Mackey asked:

NBCs smash-hit reality weight loss show, The Biggest Loser, is broadcast in 75 countries around the world, has two New York Times bestselling books under its belt, and produced the #1-selling fitness videos of 2006 and 2007. Credit for this wild success is in part due to the irresistibility of the TV show also because the diet and exercise program promoted on The Biggest Loser really works for regular people like you and me! Now you can try it too, with the Biggest Loser Club.

The site has more than just diet tips. It has menus and structured meal and exercise plans ready for you each and every day. The Biggest Loser Club does a lot of the thinking for you! The recipes are fast and easy to put together, with everyday ingredients that are healthy for you. And they provide all the nutritional information you’ll need to follow your diet. There’s even a weight loss tracker where you enter your weight, and the program graphs your successes to se how far you’ve come!

Additionally, the Biggest Loser Club site has an amazingly supportive community of fellow members. It’s a great way to share stories and recipes, and you’ll make lots of friends, too, that will make your online experience an invaluable one. Plus, you can use the personal progress journal to share your experiences and successes with other club members. You can also connect to The Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper and cast members through the sites message boards. How cool is that?

The biggest loser club employs other trainers as well as Bob Harper. One of the more popular trainers Ð Jillian Michaels is back on the show this season after taking a hiatus for season 2. She is leading the black team - a team of men and women whom did not get picked in the initial round for the blue and read team. Jillian’s black team has surprised many of the other contestants with their resilient winning attitude and dedication to losing weight. They literally went from zero to hero in this competitive challenge shooting out the gates with 3 straight wins. Unlike the red team whose member counts was cut in half extremely early on.

The best part of the Biggest Loser Club is that it’s not a diet it’s a lifestyle change. It coaches you to change your bad habits into healthy ones so that you can start enjoying life and stop feeling like a passive bystander.

One Big Show With a Lot to Lose

June 17th, 2009
Jim Mackey asked:

Attempting to lose weight haunts many people as the type of activity you don’t want to do. In fact, many put it up there with moving, going to the dentist or having to go to a car dealership. It’s just not something that is pleasant to do. It’s not easy and takes a lot of work. According to statistics, many Americans are going to be plagued with trying to lose weight at some point in their lives due to the increased number of those suffering from obesity. There are a lot of diet and weight loss programs available to help with this task. Losing weight is something most people want to do in private and on their own. Imagine taking on weight-loss in front of millions of people.

That’s exactly what contestants on the hit reality show The Biggest Loser are doing. Not only are they trying to lose weight for very important health reasons and to be around for family members, but they are trying to change their lives forever. When you take your weight-loss on national television, there’s a tremendous amount of pressure. Biggest Loser contestants have to weigh-in weekly on huge scales and have their weight displayed for anyone watching to see. It seems something from a nightmare when you consider how sensitive everyone is about their weight. Contestants are not only trying to lose weight on Biggest Loser, they are attempting to stay on the show and get closer to winning the $250,000 grand prize. Even more than the money, each contestant realizes that the longer they are allowed to remain in the competition, the more they can learn to apply toward their life lesson of becoming and staying healthy. Those that don’t put up the right numbers at the weekly weigh-in face being eliminated and sent home. That’s a lot of pressure added to the fact that you’re trying to lose weight.

To help the contestants along on Biggest Loser, they are divided into teams and each team has its own personal trainer. These trainers spend lots of time with their teams doing customized workouts and helping out with their nutritional intake. Biggest Loser takes the time tested approach to weight loss of burning more calories than you consume.  The contestants have been quoted as saying they’ve watched the show in the past, and didn’t think the workouts would be as difficult as what they’re currently experiencing. Biggest Loser is just one of the many ways and approaches to weight loss. Of course getting chosen to be on a reality television show is a little out of the question for most of us, but the approach is inspiring. You can use Biggest Loser as your motivation and lose weight along with the people on the show. If trying to lose weight, motivation and inspiration can be your best friends on the way to success. Biggest Loser can provide you with the tools to be your own Biggest Loser.

Is the Biggest Loser Weight Loss for Real?

June 10th, 2009
Jayson Hunter asked:

Many people are confused as to how The Biggest Loser show participants could lose so much weight the first week yet lose nothing the second week.

Actually one person even gained a pound. So, I want to explain what the confusion is and what exactly happens when you have that rapid weight loss. So, why did people see such amazing results the first week and see none the second week?

If we just use this show as an example. They saw so much weight loss in the first week because they obviously tell you that they are on a special type of diet, they don’t really go into the details of what it is, but I can assume that it’s a higher protein, low carb diet. These people are obviously 300/400 lbs because they were eating too much, they were over eating, ingesting thousands and thousands of calories. So, when they got to The Biggest Loser, of course they restricted those calories and put them on a special type of diet.

Glycogen is created from the carbohydrates and starches that you eat. So, for every gram that you store in your body, you also store 3-4 grams of water. If you look at it from the stand point of maybe someone was eating 500 - 700 grams of carbs and they were storing all this glycogen and they cut it to 200 grams of carbs, well you can also cut out about 3-4 grams of water for every one of those carbs you just cut out. And obviously that’s weight on the scale.

The metabolism kind of goes into shock when this happens so you lose all that glycogen and the extra grams of water which is weight in the end, and then not to mention they were exercising like crazy which none of them had really done before, so they’re going to lose water weight anyway from the amount of perspiration and body changes that are taking place and all the stuff that your body has to do to adapt to that exercise now. Your body will fluctuate 3-4% in body weight weight on a daily basis. If you look at it from the stand point of some of those men are 300-400 pounds, a 3 %- 4 % change could be, 12 pounds in either direction. And obviously women that are 200 lbs or 250 lbs, you’re looking at maybe 10 lbs in either direction, 8 lbs in either direction, somewhere in there. Women tend to fluctuate even more then men in regards to water weight on a daily basis just because of the hormone levels. When you saw the weight loss they were getting, such as 15 lbs, 18lbs, I think someone lost 29lbs. Most of that is the initial shift because of eating less carbs, eating less calories as well as just general water weight loss because of the increased activity that they were now doing.

It’s very important for people to understand that when you start, you can see these dramatic results but it’s permanent lifestyle changes that allow you to have fast, safe permanent weight loss but its permanent in the sense that you can start by taking off 15 - up to 15lbs in 30 days, but things are going to level off, and you have to make behavioral changes, you have to change your life. There are no quick fixes for anything.

If you go to the extreme and say, and again we don’t know exactly what diet The Biggest Loser people are on, but a lot of people go on what they call, a true low carb diet, and a true low carb diet is, maybe 30 grams of carbs for the entire day. It’s low. It’s essentially nothing. When you go on that type of diet it really wreaks havoc on your metabolism, Your goal is to be cycling your carb intake which is going to get you that fast weight loss, but not sacrifice your metabolism because you want that metabolism to be fast all the time. That’s the number one goal.

Your body works a certain way and that’s true for all of us, so you need to know the science behind it and while you can lose weight fast, safely and keep that metabolism up, you’re going to need to make those permanent lifestyle changes to keep it off.

Don’t get caught up in these changes, these extreme changes of “Man how did they lose 30lbs and I can’t lose a pound.” You got to compare apples to apples here and see what positions their in and see what you’ve been in because as you noticed as you watched the second week of the biggest loser, those guys lost 2lbs, 3lbs, someone gained a pound and that’s their body going through that transition and almost going into a survival mode. I think you’ll find that as you keep watching the show; their weight will start to be more consistent where they’ll consistently lose 2lbs of fat a week or 3lbs of fat a week.

You won’t see this wild swing of losing 30 lbs then losing 0 lbs even though they worked just as hard and ate just the same, because your body’s going to adjust, and your body - your metabolism will slowly speed back up and the goal is to try not to get that metabolism to slow down to begin with, try to keep it up at an elevated rate so that it is a consistent, permanent weight loss.
